Been looking forward to beating back the Nazi threat, but not entirely sure that your computer can run the game? You’re in luck, because the minimum specs were posted yesterday on the Wolfenstein Community forums by a community manager. To run Wolfenstein, you’ll need an Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 3400+ processor, 1 gigabyte of RAM, and 8 gigs of hard drive space, plus an extra 800 megs for Windows swap files). You’ll also need a DVD-ROM drive, 256MB Nvidia GeForce 6800 GT or ATI Radeon X800, a DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card and a broadband connection for multiplayer. The basic software requirements are Windows XP or Windows Vista and DirectX 9.0c. Recommended specs haven’t been released yet, but as soon as they become available, we’ll pass them along.
As we all are probably aware, these “minimum specs” will probably not run the game to well… “minimum specs” usually refer to what is needed to simply boot the game and operate well enough that the customer can’t sue. I would imagine that this game is going to need something in the dual core chips for CPU, at least 2 gigs of ram and a GPU from the last year or two to really operate in a playable manner.
And speaking of Wolfenstein, be sure to check in on the Project Panzerbox Mod: A Tribute to Wolfenstein that CustomPCMAX and MNPCTech are working on. If you haven’t seen it yet, it is a fully modded gaming PC done to the theme of Wolfenstein.
